Isowood
ISOWOOD is a mat that can be moulded using a pressing technique, the thickness and composition of which are custom-manufactured, depending on requirements. It is made up of fibres from annual plants (hemp, flax, kenaf and jute) as well as thermoplastic fibres, which are needle-punched with fibrous webs, depending on requirements (degree of deep drawing and further processing).
Moulded parts made of ISOWOOD are supplied to all renowned systems suppliers.

Features:
- Low weight
- High degree of sound absorption
- High degrees of strength and component stability
- Good texture
- Safety: excellent crash behaviour (no tendency to splitter even at low temperatures)
- Dimensional stability with a high degree of elasticity at the same time
- Good 3-D mouldability
- No environmentally dangerous components
- Low weight of components is realised compared with injection moulding and other pressing materials (up to 20% depending on the type of plastic)
- No shrinkage after pressing
- Low thermal expansion coefficient
Diversified mat structures are available for different ranges of use and processing, which can be customised to the type of use.
Processing:
ISOWOOD natural fibre mats
- Can be processed without preliminary preparation
- Have long storage capability
- Have short heating and pressing cycles as well as short cycle times
- Can be used in fully automatic processing lines
Technologies possible for processing/follow-up machining:
- One Shot technology with decoration materials
- Rear-pressing of insertion-type elements (e.g. retainers and hook-on clips)
- Vacuum-lining-capable
- Punch-capable and milling-capable
- Friction welding & high-frequency welding of thermoplastic elements
- Thermo-welding-capable
- Adhesive-free lining and adhesive lining are possible
Advantages:
- simplifies tool production, shortens project runs, reduces necessary investments
- "One shot" processing: Fastening elements and decorative patterns can be pressed onto both sides of the carrier material in only one production step.
